The ultimate goal of IVF is to give birth to a healthy baby. Undergoing IVF can mean making some lifestyle changes to increase the chances of pregnancy. The couples may ensure that they are healthy and comfortable throughout the process.  Lowering alcohol, lowering intake of caffeine and nicotine are widely accepted.

  • Women need to follow the diet recommended by the doctor prior to the IVF cycle.

  • Eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day are preferable.

  • Intake of food with rich in minerals and vitamins, calcium and magnesium are compulsory.

  • Avoid eating of fish with high mercury content.

  • Avoid eating of food that is more than 12 hours old to ensure that everything is safe and healthy.

  • It is highly recommended to reduce the intake of caffeine.

  • Refined and processed foods should be avoided at the time of IVF as they affect the insulin and other hormonal levels in the body.

  • Refined sugar is another avoidable food as it burns the sugar fat which imbalances the blood sugar levels.

  • Saturated fats and Trans fats also need to avoid as these are the major cause of obesity.

  • Avoid eating food that contains raw eggs.
