Intrauterine Insemination for infertility treatment

Intrauterine Insemination for infertility treatment

During the IUI infertility treatment procedure, the sperm of a male partner is placed inside a woman’s uterus to ease fertilization. The main intent of performing this process is to increase the count of sperm that reach the Fallopian tubes and consequently enhance the possibility of fertilization.

In this procedure, a process is used to separate fast moving sperm from more slow or non moving sperm. Then the active sperm is injected inside a woman’s uterus, which increases the chances of fertilization. This process provides the sperm an advantage by giving it a head start. The sperm need to reach its own to fertilize with egg. IUI process is less expensive and less persistent compared to IVF.

When to go for IUI option

IUI is generally recommended for the patients, if the men have low sperm count or less sperm mobility.

In some cases IUI is recommended for:

  •     Unexplained infertility problems
