Egg donation-the fast rising industry in India

Infertility in India is increasing day-by-day with the increased intake of unhealthy foods such as fast foods. For a number of reasons many women today are facing issues with physically and mentally that lead to the less potential to producing eggs, which further demands for the egg donors. In egg donation, eggs are usually borrowed from young women who are not less than 33 years of age, who are called as the donors and this process is initiated with their complete consent. Egg donors in India are carefully examined and prepared medically in order to make them strong and ready to deliver their services by increasing their chances of a health and successful pregnancy.

Egg donation is an invasive process in India and many NRIs come to India to find the egg donors. Donating eggs is not illegal when the agreement of the donor is involved in the donation process. During this process, a fertility hormone is being injected to the donor in order to increase the more production of eggs, which often causes headaches, giddiness and nausea that lasts for few days. The donor egg will be combined with the sperm from the recipient couple and kept in laboratory for fertilization. After the formation of embryo, it is transferred into the recipient uterus in order to achieve pregnancy. This process is highly recommended for women:

  • Women with ovarian failure
  • Repeated IVF failures, women who are unable to get pregnant with their own eggs
  • Women who have repeated miscarriages
  • Couple who have chromosomal abnormalities
  • Women with more than 35 years age

There are no particular laws made by India to the fertility clinics. Every day, fertility clinics in India get 10-15 demands for the eggs that put them to find the healthy donors. It is also quite true that some people use this egg donation process as a lucrative business for money.

The steps involved in egg donation process are:

Phase 1: Initial screening process

Phase 2: Medical screening process

Phase 3: Legal and fund process

Phase 4: Synchronizing and stimulation process

Phase 5: Egg Retrieval process
