Dehydration during pregnancy harms the health of both mother and baby. Water is the major element that is required in more quantity during pregnancy as the body needs to develop extra quantities of blood, amniotic fluid and other liquids. This condition generally happens when the body losses 2 percent more water than replace. Dehydration is a severe condition at any time, especially in pregnancy. Dehydration means that you are not taking enough quantity of water intake.
As you take less water than required, dehydration will occurs and it results in heartache, heat exhaustion and heat cramps. Drinking less water a day in a prolonged manner causes cancers and tumors. Dehydration during pregnancy has adverse effects on the baby and on mom. It is important for the pregnant woman to take more water and more fluids to avoid dehydration and it also avoids hot flashes during pregnancy.

Preventive steps for dehydration during pregnancy
- Drink at least 12 glasses of water to stay away from dehydration
- Avoid product like caffine as increases the urine output.
- Avoid severe exercises or spending lot of time in a hot environment as it causes more water loss
- Take liquids like soup, juices and smoothies along with normal water.
